Intensive Care Unit Senior Medical Officer Opportunity
Northern Beaches Hospital is a leading healthcare provider offering world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, a 50-bed Emergency Department, and a 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU. The ICU team provides extensive services to the local community, with a wide exposure to intensive care through a busy emergency department, major elective surgical, neurosurgical, and cardiothoracic workload.
The ICU team is a core part of the hospital and enjoys the multi-disciplinary nature of working in a busy and friendly hospital. As a Senior Medical Officer, you will provide clinical assessments, management advice, care of emergency admissions, and work with inpatients as required and directed by senior ICU colleagues.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Senior Medical Officer in the ICU, you will be responsible for:
- Providing clinical assessments and management advice to patients and families
- Caring for emergency admissions and working with inpatients as required
- Collaborating with senior ICU colleagues to ensure high-quality patient care
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and outcomes
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- Hold a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and be registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner for a minimum of two years with progress towards career goals in Anaesthetics or Critical Care
- Demonstrated clinical competency and an ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management
