Legislative Officer Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Legislative Officer to support our Legal Service team in the development, review and amendment of primary and subordinate legislation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the ongoing development, review and amendment of legislation through provision of legislative advice.

  • Undertake research projects, initiate recommendations, draft responses, reports and coordinate projects to ensure effective implementation of legislative policies.

  • Work closely with Senior Legislative Advisors to provide clear, concise and accurate reports, briefings, memoranda and recommendations to support policy development.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and develop high-quality outputs.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a legal, policy, legislative or regulatory development role, with a strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations.

  • Current study in law or postgraduate qualifications is highly regarded, as it provides a solid foundation for understanding legislative principles and practices.

  • Familiarity with the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2002 and associated regulations is advantageous, as it enables the successful candidate to make informed contributions to the team.
