The Classroom Teacher plays a vital role in enhancing student performance and educational outcomes. They are responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering programs to achieve specific student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;
  • Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school community;
  • Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;

The Classroom Teacher is expected to possess content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students. They will model exemplary classroom practice, mentor/coach other teachers, and provide expert advice on professional learning initiatives.

They will also supervise and train student teachers, assist staff to use student data, and contribute to policy development and project teams.

As a Classroom Teacher, you will work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing, and engagement.

Selection Criteria:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills effectively;
  • Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs;
  • Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high-impact teaching strategies;
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.
