Wellness Therapist

About this Role

The Wellness & Lifestyle Therapist will be based at our Head Office located in Glenside but will work across all Southern Cross Care Residential Homes in South Australia and will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality wellness and lifestyle services to residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering Wellness Services - Delivering wellness and lifestyle services and activities that empower and support residents to engage in meaningful activities that align with SCC's Better for life model.
• Empowering Residents - Empowering and enabling residents to maximise and improve their health, wellness and quality of life.
• Developing Strategies - Developing strategies and processes that enable residents to take informed risks to live the life they choose.
• Contributing to Recovery Programs - Contributing to early intervention programs to develop recovery programs that address lifestyle and wellness decline.
• Ensuring Resident Satisfaction - Listening to residents to ascertain that they are satisfied with the wellness services and support available to them.

About You

We are looking for people who will be the difference in the lives of our residents and clients. The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• Current Driver's Licence
• Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience in the delivery and supporting the implementation of wellness and lifestyle programs for older people
• Previous experience working in an aged care environment or passion for working with older people, good communication, organisation and relationship building skills
• Sound problem solving skills particularly when assessing balancing supporting resident's desire for independence and self determination to make their own choices against potential risks and duty of care
• Good understanding of the requirements to support residents living with dementia including those who display challenging behaviours
• Proficient computer and keyboard skills and the ability to use Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail etc.) and various in-house databases
