Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our Kindergarten Inclusion Support (KIS) Team as a Specialist Consultant.

The successful candidate will work with early childhood educators to provide specialist training and consultancy, supporting them to create inclusive programs for children with disabilities and complex needs.

This role involves assisting early childhood educators to meet the individual needs of children, providing reasonable adjustments and modifications to the kindergarten program. Additionally, you will support all children to access and participate in all aspects of the program.

Key responsibilities include mentoring and supporting staff, implementing strategies relevant to the children's program, participating in meetings related to service delivery and administration, and representing the KIS program in internal and external committees.

You will also be responsible for recommending, organizing, developing, and maintaining inclusion resources and materials, and maintaining knowledge of current Early Childhood Teaching, Early Childhood Intervention, and Inclusion best practice.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Prior experience as an Early Childhood Teacher
  • Knowledge and experience supporting the inclusion of children with additional needs and their families in Early Education and Care Services
  • Strong skills in training, mentoring, and supporting staff in Early Education and Care Services
  • Commitment to inclusion, family-centered, and strengths-based practices
  • Creativity, initiative, and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • A current Victorian Driver Licence and the right to work in Australia
  • Current Victorian Police Check and Working with Children Check
  • Victorian Institute of Teaching Registration
  • Early Childhood Teaching Degree (3–4 years) or Diploma in Teaching (essential)
  • A higher degree or post-graduate qualification in Early Childhood Education or related field (desirable)
