We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Student and Family Counsellor to join our team at Marymead CatholicCare. As a key member of our pastoral care program, you will work closely with students, families, and school staff to promote social, emotional, and educational wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual and family counselling to children and families from our schools, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
- Develop and implement therapeutic/psychoeducational groups for student cohorts and year/assembly presentations, promoting resilience and recovery.
- Design and deliver professional development for school staff, enhancing their ability to support students' wellbeing.
- Practice in accordance with social work and psychology ethics/values and practice principles, ensuring a client-centered and family-focused approach.

Marymead CatholicCare is the social services arm of the Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn. Ideal CandidateWe are seeking a candidate with:
- Qualifications in Social Work (including eligibility for membership of Australian Association of Social Workers) or registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist or Degree qualified counsellors with registrations with ACA or PACFA (level 3 or 4)
- Experience in providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions with children, young people, and their families
- Knowledge of issues affecting children, young people, and families, and current approaches to assist wellbeing, supporting recovery, and building relationships and resilience
- Demonstrated commitment to working within a child safety framework that is client-centered and family-focused
- Excellent relationship building skills to maintain effective stakeholder relationships with schools and community interagency partners
- Proven experience and ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations and to students presenting with complex needs
You will also be required to undergo a National Police Check.
To be considered for this role, you will also need to hold a current driver's licence and an ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card, as well as an NSW Working with Children Check (if travelling to NSW schools).
