About the Role
The NSW Department of Communities and Justice is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Officer to join our team in a secure residential unit. As a frontline staff member, you will play a critical role in supervising and supporting young people in custody, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support young people in custody, promoting a safe and secure environment
- Respond to challenging situations and maintain a calm demeanor in high-pressure situations
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement programs to support young people's rehabilitation and reintegration into society
- Conduct regular checks and monitoring to ensure the well-being and safety of young people
- Participate in training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
- Citizenship or residency requirements
- Provisional 2 NSW driver's licence
- National Background Police Check
- NSW Working with Children Check Clearance
- Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Medical and Fitness Assessment
