Governance Leadership Role

About Our Organisation

We are a government agency seeking an experienced governance professional to join our team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain a culture of good governance within the organisation.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate organisational risks in line with our governance framework.
  • Develop and promote a strong understanding of the risk profile and legal framework of the organisation, ensuring management is knowledgeable and compliant.
  • Provide high-level advice on legislative, compliance, and internal governance matters related to the Local Government Act 2020 and associated legislation.
  • Review legal documents, such as MOUs, agreements, and terms and conditions, and advise on any issues.
  • Manage the administration of corporate legal documents and development of the Governance and Administration procedure manual.
  • Oversee the policy manual and initiate reviews and renewals.

Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications in Business, Public Administration, Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 12 months experience in governance and/or administrative roles in local government or the public sector.
  • High-level experience in developing local laws, policies, guidelines, and report writing.
  • An extensive working knowledge of statutory requirements in local government or public sector administration.
  • A thorough understanding of local government structure, functions, strategic directions, and corporate objectives.
  • The ability to think analytically and laterally in formulating effective procedures, plans, policies, and strategies.
  • Familiarity with insurance practices, particularly within a local government environment.
  • The capacity to anticipate and resolve operational and customer needs and issues in accordance with corporate guidelines.
