The Role

We are seeking a Financial Assistant to become an integral part of our finance department in Canberra. The Financial Assistant will oversee the accounting functions of a designated business unit, which includes month-end and year-end processing, related journal entries, and account reconciliations.

Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, your primary responsibilities will encompass:

  • Ensuring accurate and timely account reconciliations.
  • Delivering financial insights and analyses in accordance with reporting deadlines.
  • Preparing monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Conducting compliance activities such as BAS, FBT, superannuation, work cover, and payroll tax returns along with supporting documentation.
  • Assisting in the financial planning and forecasting processes for the business unit.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree in accounting
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in an accounting position
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Strong organizational skills to manage priorities effectively
  • A customer-centric approach
  • Current enrollment or intention to pursue CPA certification
