The Reject Shop is an ASX listed Australian Discount Variety retailer with a strong presence in North Queensland. We pride ourselves on our supportive team culture and customer-centric approach.

We are seeking a Regional Manager (North Queensland) to lead our operations team in the region. This role will be based in Townsville or Cairns and will oversee 17 stores across North Queensland, from Cairns to Mackay.

In this role, you will play a critical part in driving the profitability and growth of The Reject Shop by championing our strategy, values, and purpose. You will be responsible for creating a culture of high performance across store teams, focused on delivering targeted results, and leading a one-touch, one-way of working.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Driving store standards through effective communication, store visits, and coaching.
  • Driving a culture of high performance by ensuring strong merchandising standards, a customer-obsessed culture, and operational efficiencies consistent with our low-cost operating model.
  • Utilizing trend analysis to drive commercial outcomes, relevant to KPIs and critical business focus points.
  • Driving a proactive approach to maximizing sales, reducing costs, and managing wage and stock loss.
  • Partnering closely with People and Culture to drive performance in people and develop internal succession planning and talent.
  • Reviewing store operations trading reports monthly to celebrate results and identify opportunities.
  • Driving a culture of safety-first.
  • Maintaining a high level of engagement in the region to support our team.
  • Leading by example through transparency, honesty, integrity, and care for our people.

Requirements for the role include:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in multisite retail leadership, preferably in a highly operational business.
  • Adept in Situational leadership – able to lead with empathy while driving results.
  • Significant experience working in high-volume, ideally discount variety operational leadership roles.
  • A demonstrated history of achieving sales and KPI targets.
  • A demonstrated history of building top-performing teams.
  • The ability to foster strong cross-functional relationships with multiple key stakeholders.
  • Concise and clear communication style.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • High attention to detail, ability to understand data, and translate what that means for stores.
