Job Description

The Senior Womenswear Designer will be responsible for delivering exceptional, innovative, and fashion-forward collections that embody the evolution and development of cult core styles. Working across multidisciplinary design and various RTW apparel, this individual will establish UMENCO's reputation as a leading authority in the industry.

Key responsibilities include building a solid foundation of core brand fabrications and iconic trims and graphics, sourcing and developing new techniques and materials at the forefront of trends and technological advances in the fashion industry. The ideal candidate will also ensure cohesion between seasonal creative vision and design output, presenting unified collections that reflect the sensibilities of the brand.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this pivotal role, the Senior Womenswear Designer must possess a robust understanding of price points, margins, fabrication, and construction techniques. They should have experience developing supplier relationships and be able to use this knowledge to ensure each piece is designed to maximise profitability and reach business targets for the collection.

Additionally, the successful candidate will present with:

  • Five years of experience in RTW design
  • Impeccable attention to detail and organisation skills
  • A proven track record working with offshore manufacturing and technical management of suppliers
  • A strong technical knowledge of fit, pattern making, and construction
  • An innate aptitude for trend forecasting
  • An inherent understanding of the brand's DNA
