Job Role:

You will be responsible for accurately estimating, analyzing and controlling costs for projects with complex requirements or high technical skills.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Cost estimation, analysis and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill.
  • Analyze to provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.
  • Develop and implement project requirements for cost control in accordance with established client contractual requirements, objectives and procedures.
  • Ensure work is completed as scheduled, supporting project organizational and administrative activities.
  • Prepare cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis and cost and quantity comparisons.
  • Review identified cost trends for cost effectiveness and suggest alternatives when appropriate.
  • Maintain open communications with other organizations to support cost engineering analysis and control activities.
  • Create and implement measurement systems for given processes, analyze performance metric results and identify improvements. Ability to use statistical tools to analyze metrics (e.g., regression, analysis of variance, correlation), and ability to analyze measurement systems to identify bias, repeatability and stability issues.
  • Prepare and present cost engineering information to management/client.

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience. Key qualifications include:

  • Experience in performing, monitoring and reviewing cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control and cost analysis, in the field and home office.
  • Statistical knowledge in areas of sampling, distributions, probability and hypothesis testing for metrics.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes, and understanding of Controller instructions which impact.
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
