Job Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our trade development efforts in Australia, focusing on promoting UK trade and investment in the emerging sectors of energy transition and clean growth. The role will involve developing new strategies for these sectors and establishing the UK as a top-tier supplier and innovative thought leader at both federal and state levels.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders across the Department for International Trade, the British Consulate General, and the British High Commission in Canberra, reporting directly to the Senior Trade Development Manager, Energy and Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify commercial opportunities for UK companies in the energy transition market and provide high-quality advice to support their growth in Australia.
  • Build impactful relationships with key market influencers, industry leaders, and government officials to drive UK business success.
  • Encourage Australian companies to invest in the UK by shaping the market and identifying and removing access barriers.
  • Collaborate across UK Government teams in Australia, Asia-Pacific, and the UK to build effective problem-solving teams.
  • Support the delivery of events, trade missions, and senior visits.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of stakeholder management and relationship-building in the energy sector.
  • Highly developed commercial acumen and ability to identify business opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a global team.
