Apprentice Fitter and Turner – Certificate III Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting / Machining)

This is an exciting opportunity to kick-start your career in the engineering industry. As an Apprentice Fitter and Turner, you will have the chance to develop a range of skills in fitting and turning through formal and on-the-job learning activities.

  • 48 Months Maximum Term Full Time, 9-day fortnight
  • Earn while you learn opportunity available
  • AP140C – AP15ZC ($42,562 – $48,862 per annum + superannuation) based on schooling level completion
  • Adult (over 21 upon commencement) AP75ZC $63,169 per annum + superannuation
Why This Role

This position offers a unique blend of hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge. You will work closely with experienced team members to maintain Council's mechanical, water/wastewater assets to a high standard.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for undertaking a competency-based apprenticeship to develop your skills in fitting and turning. You will also have the opportunity to complete a Certificate III Engineering (Mechanical Trade) qualification through TAFE.

About The Skills You Will Need

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Willingness to be part of, and promote, a positive safety culture whilst adhering to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Minimum completed of Year 10 with passes in English and Mathematics.
  • Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers' licence (or ability to obtain).
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Willingness to undertake the requirements to successfully complete the associated qualification.
