Copyediting Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of copyedited manuscripts, preparing them for layout, checking the accuracy of page proofs and indexes, and carrying out post-publication checks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality and consistency of copyedited manuscripts.
  • Prepare manuscripts for layout.
  • Check the accuracy of page proofs and indexes.
  • Carry out post-publication checks.
  • Provide editorial assistance to the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree relevant to the position or equivalent combination of experience and training in copyediting and proofreading.
  • Experience in coordinating production of print and digital formats, including ebooks, in an academic/trade publishing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud, including Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, and familiarity with content management systems.
  • Ability to display initiative and flexibility, assess priorities, manage deadlines, and work as part of a team.
  • High level of oral communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to liaise with colleagues, senior managers, academic authors, freelance editors, and other stakeholders.
