Job Title: Staff Specialist Emergency MedicineAbout the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced FACEM to join our dynamic team in the adult and paediatric mixed Emergency Department of the Townsville University Hospital. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a tertiary ED with minimal ambulance ramping, specializing in all patient demographics in a tropical city with enviable winter temperatures.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dedicated individual who is looking to relocate to the tropics or continue their career in a dynamic and growing hospital. As a TUH ED staff specialist, you will have clinical exposure to the adult and paediatric areas of the ED and short stay unit, as well as aeromedical retrieval clinical coordination, geriatric emergency care, and education and mentoring of future FACEMs.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:

  • A Fellowship of the College of Emergency Medicine Australasia (FACEM)
  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

About Us

Townsville University Hospital is one of the biggest and busiest Emergency Departments in Queensland, providing emergency care to the residents of the greater Townsville area, as well as being the major referral centre for the whole of North Queensland. We manage 100,000 presentations per year, 20% paediatric presentations, 30% First Nations patient population, with an overall admission rate of 30% and 95% of patients meeting ambulance off-stretcher targets.
