About the Role

Mercy Community Services is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Professional Family Support Specialist to join our Connected Families Team.

This permanent full-time role is based in Ipswich, offering a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children, young people, families, and the community.

The estimated salary for this position is $85,126 - $91,588 per annum (SCHADS L4), plus superannuation and generous salary packaging options.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality support and case management to families engaged with the service, focusing on highly vulnerable families.
  • Collaborate with your line manager to identify client needs and deliver services within available resources, continually assessing effectiveness and responding to changing needs and dynamics.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with clients and relevant stakeholders, promoting dignity and encouraging self-determination at all stages of family engagement.
  • Support and facilitate opportunities for life and personal skill development for clients, modeling expected behaviors.
Requirements
  • Degree in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology, or related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Solid understanding of the Queensland Child Protection system.
  • Intermediate ability to use computer IT systems, including MS Word and Excel.
  • Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver's Licence.
  • Able to obtain a positive notice in the legislatively required personal history check, as per service stream compliance requirements.
  • Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement, unless applicable exemption provided as per the relevant MC procedure.
