About the Role

This is a Mechanical Engineering position in our Life Cycle Engineering Department, supporting the design, integration, and installation of modernized systems and equipment on in-service Navy surface combatants.

As a key member of the DDG 1000 Planning Yard Engineering team, you will provide functional Mechanical Engineering analysis and Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) support for DDG 1000 Class Destroyers.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Performing functional mechanical engineering analysis for installation of shipalts onto DDG 1000 class ships.
  • Supporting update of associated databases and calculations, and configuration management of changes to piping and HVAC systems since new construction, for DDG 1000 distributive systems.
  • Specifying new functional designs and design changes in support of Navy contracts, Ship Upgrades (SCDs) and special studies for DDG 1000 class ships.
  • Working with customers (Navy, Installing Activities, Procurement, Contracts, Detail Design, and On-Site Design Representatives) to resolve technical issues, recommend changes and maintain appropriate communications.

Please note that some travel to ships' Home Ports may be required. You will also be responsible for providing technical leadership for development of detail design products.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience as an Engineer.
  • Familiarity with shipboard or commercial pipe and vent systems is desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and execute projects.
  • Highly motivated, strong attention to detail with proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in WINDOWS software operating skills, Microsoft Excel, Word, and CAD (AutoCAD, Catia).

This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance. As such, you must be a US Citizen and able to obtain an interim security clearance within the first 45 days of hire.
