About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Works Technician & Records Officer to join our team at METKA EGN Australia Pty Ltd in Melbourne VIC.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our electrical teams with coordinating site electrical works and assisting in the design, implementation, and administration of records systems and related information services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical Works Technician:
  • Coordinate electrical self-performing works on site, including planning, sourcing, and management of labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Assist in the onboarding of labor hire, ensuring paperwork/qualifications are received and uploaded into the relevant system and site inductions are complete.
  • Monitor and ensure labor hire works are completed to schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Conduct field inspections of work in progress and share any deviations or deficiencies with Construction Manager, Site Supervisors, and the Quality Team.
  • Coordinate digging trenches, footings, and other civil works in preparation for Electrical installation.
  • Coordinate and document drawings, plans, and diagrams of electrical installations and circuitry.
  • Assist Electrical Engineers and Site Supervisors in the documentation of electrical installations and circuitry on substations, switchgear, cabling systems, and motor control systems.
  • Estimate materials costs and quantities.
  • Fetch and carry tools and materials.
  • Coordinate erecting solar panel support frames.
  • Coordinate electrical and electronic systems.
  • Inspect designs for quality control, report findings, and provide recommendations.
  • Review site conditions and relay back to the Design team.
  • Coordinate adjustments and replacement of broken electronic components and circuitry.
  • Coordinate clarification of design details of experimental electronic units.
  • Records:
  • Evaluate and preserve EPC records for administrative, historical, legal, evidential, and other purposes.
  • Prepare record-keeping systems, indexes, guides, and procedures for archival research and for the retention and destruction of records.
  • Assist EPC team in designing and revising MRES record forms.
  • Manage the organization's central records systems.
  • Analyze the record-keeping needs of organizations and translate these needs into record management systems.
  • Maintain computerized and other record management systems and record forms, and advise on their usage.
  • Control access to confidential information, and recommend codes of practice and procedures for accessing records.
  • Develop record cataloguing, coding, and classification systems, and monitor their use.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Trade or tertiary qualification is preferred, with experience within energy, construction, mining, resources, or infrastructure or related Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous experience in a site-based role with an understanding of how construction sites function (specifically the electrical works) e.g. as a Trade Assistant (preferably electrical) and/or Project Administrator/Coordinator.
  • An understanding of the importance of maintaining accurate and well-organized records.
  • Extensive experience as an administrator.
  • Renewable industry experience (Solar, Wind, Hydrogen) preferred but not mandatory.
