Control Systems Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to join a world-class research facility as a Controls Engineer, working on a variety of topics from controlling hardware to data acquisition and processing pipelines to databases and web applications.
As a Controls Engineer, you will work closely with other engineers to design, develop, document, commission, and conduct acceptance testing on all aspects of the controls system, with a particular emphasis on improving existing systems.
Key Responsibilities- Development and debugging of state-of-the-art control systems and robotics solutions using Delta-Tau, Staubli, Epson, Kuka, and their related programming environments.
- Strong experience and knowledge with Delta-Tau would be an advantage.
- Experience with Python, C/C++, EPICS, Linux, and other programming languages would be an advantage.
- Ability to program, debug, and deploy motion controllers and work on motor records, configuration files, and their related program environments would be an advantage.
- Be able to work in a systematic method to document, test, and deploy changes to control solutions in use on site.
- Related control systems experience would be an advantage.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Some prior knowledge and experience of PLC, PLC-based safety systems, and/or robotics systems would be desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial control systems with motion control and software background.
- Experience with state-of-the-art motion control systems for nanometre scale scientific equipment, robotic systems, and high-performance data acquisition systems would be highly regarded.
- Controlling of hardware with software tools, for example, Python and C.
- Acquisition and storage of data, for example, multi-dimensional arrays produced by hardware.
- Processing of data using scientific libraries.
- Visualisation of scientific data and Graphical User Interface (GUI).
- Databases (SQL and NoSQL).
