Communications Technician Job Description">

Brunel is collaborating with a leading mining client to hire a Communications Technician (rail) to ensure the availability and integrity of site-based communications systems across remote rail and mining locations.

You will be based out of Perth and be a key part of the maintenance and upgrade team, working with advanced technologies including TETRA, fibre, microwave links, and MineStar systems.

This hands-on role involves monitoring performance of site wireless systems and field radio coverage, conducting PM inspections of towers, trailers, and mobile communications assets, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Sepura TETRA radios and onboard hardware, relocating communications trailers as required to maintain coverage, responding to incidents logged through ServiceNow, and providing on-call support.

Required Skills and Qualifications">

You are a qualified communications technician with experience supporting OT or comms infrastructure in heavy industry, mining, or rail environments.

  • Certificate IV or trade qualification in Electronics or Communication
  • 5+ years' experience in site-based OT or comms infrastructure
  • Strong working knowledge of Cisco mesh, microwave, fibre optic systems
  • Experience with Sepura TETRA radios or similar digital two-way systems
  • Previous exposure to autonomous fleets or open-pit mining environments
  • Strong fault-finding, installation, and system reporting capabilities
  • ServiceNow (or similar) ticketing system experience desirable
