About the Role

This is a part-time permanent opportunity to work as a Professional Counsellor in our Drug and Alcohol team. You will be working 4 days weekly, providing support to individuals experiencing substance-related harm and wanting to make positive changes in their life.

Brief Overview:

The successful candidate will join our multidisciplinary team of experienced clinicians and contribute to delivering comprehensive care and support services for individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised counselling and case management services to clients with complex needs
  • Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and facilitate discharge planning
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required by legislation and organisational policies

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in nursing, social work, psychology, or allied health, with current registration (if applicable)
  • Previous experience working with people who have identified drug and/or alcohol-related issues
  • Understanding of harm minimisation principles and practices
  • Knowledge of drug classifications, intoxication, withdrawal, and medicated-assisted opioid treatment
  • Critical thinking skills to identify and solve problems in crisis interventions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of conducting assessments, case planning, treatment, and discharge planning
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including computer literacy
