Job Title: Senior Research Scientist - Physical Oceanography

We are seeking an experienced Senior Research Scientist to join our team in a key role that will undertake data collection, processing, and analysis to deliver high-quality physical observational data streams.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead fieldwork to maintain weather observing systems and direct the development of instruments and sensors for deployment.

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in physics, mathematics, or equivalent disciplines, along with strong programming skills in MATLAB and/or Python.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead fieldwork to collect and analyze physical oceanographic data
  • Develop and implement methods for data processing and quality control
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate data into larger research projects

You will also be responsible for managing field logistics, planning, and scheduling while ensuring quality outcomes.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in physics, mathematics, or equivalent disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience in programming languages such as MATLAB and/or Python
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues
