DevOps Manager Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Manager to join our team at Aspire Software in Adelaide or Melbourne. This is a leadership role that focuses on optimizing our software delivery process, ensuring the stability and scalability of our systems, and fostering a collaborative culture between the software development teams.
About the Role:
- Manage teams that impact two businesses
- Supervise between 15-20 employees
- A client base of approximately 2600 clients, Australia-wide
- Lead the collaboration and management of software ad operations teams
- Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines while automating processes to improve the speed and reliability of deployments
- Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure while ensuring high scalability and disaster recovery
- Maintain sturdy monitoring and alert systems to ensure proactive detection of issues
- Evaluate and enforce security compliance and industry best practice
- Mentor the technical teams in modern software development practices, software architecture and cloud infrastructure
- Manage vulnerability assessments and patching processes
- Drive incident response, post-mortem analysis, and implement lessons learned to improve incident response times and systems reliability
- Guide the development teams in modernizing their applications and migrating to true cloud architectures
- Manage and deliver to budgets, including resource allocation, and ensuring tool investments align with business needs
About You:
- At least 8+ years of Software engineering experience with at least 4+ years managing SAAS development teams, including developing talent
- Strong knowledge of Scrum and Agile Methodologies/SCRUM Master
- At least a Bachelor's or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of software architecture and design principles
Requirements:
- Financial acumen in managing budgets, optimizing cloud costs, and making sound investment decisions for toolchains and infrastructure
- Deep understanding of modern cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and experience with scalability and resilience strategies (e.g., microservices, container orchestration, serverless functions)
- Strong ability to advocate and build a culture around DevOps best practices, inspiring development teams toward process automation, continuous improvement and cross-functional knowledge sharing
- Security compliance expertise, including knowledge of security best practices, vulnerability management, and familiarity with certifications like ISO 27001 or SOC2
