We are seeking an experienced mechanical designer/drafter to join our team of passionate engineers and designers. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for importing and manipulating vendor drawings/models, producing detailed mechanical drawings/models including P&IDs, exporting equipment/piping quantities, collaborating with mechanical/process engineers to deliver plans for construction, supporting project teams with documentation, revisions, and coordination of drawings/models, and establishing and maintaining design templates and drawing standards.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have experience working in a consulting environment, delivering projects as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-office team. They will also have strong technical knowledge and attention to detail, as well as the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Importing and manipulating vendor drawings/models
  • Producing detailed mechanical drawings/models, including P&IDs
  • Exporting equipment/piping quantities
  • Collaborating with Mechanical/Process engineers to deliver plans for construction
  • Supporting project teams with documentation, revisions and coordination of drawings/models
  • Establishing and maintaining design templates and drawing standards

Requirements:

  • Proficient in relevant CAD software, including Autodesk Civil 3D and Autodesk Plant 3D
  • Experience in water and wastewater treatment and/or conveyance design
  • Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of safety in design, constructability, operational practices and relevant Australian standards and WSAA codes
  • Relevant TAFE qualifications, diploma or degree in drafting, engineering or design
  • Understanding of risk management and ability to identify project and design-related risks
  • Commitment to working safely and within the company's HSEQ systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across a multidisciplinary team
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for engaging with a broad range of audiences
  • Willingsness to travel occasionally as required
