Job Opportunity: Regional Security Specialist

Description:

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is seeking a skilled professional to assume the role of Regional Security Advisor. As a critical member of the AFP Security Command, you will be responsible for implementing security risk management principles and promoting a positive security culture throughout your geographic area of responsibility.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Identify and assess potential threats, vulnerabilities, and security risks to AFP sites and personnel, developing effective mitigation strategies;
  • Conduct thorough security risk assessments and treatment plans on AFP operations and activities;
  • Develop and deliver site security response plans, security awareness training programs, and induction sessions;
  • Promote a robust and positive security culture through ongoing consultation, collaboration, and communication with personnel;
  • Analyze and report on security incidents and breaches of security governance, devising risk mitigations and trend analysis;
  • Support the Threat to AFP Personnel Program (Bulwark);
  • Perform site security assessments, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending appropriate security measures;
  • Act as the local point of contact for contracted security guarding services;
  • Prepare, monitor, and review site-specific security response plans;
  • Provide security advice for AFP-hosted events, including development of event security plans;
  • Assist personnel within your region to be aware of and fulfill their security responsibilities and obligations;
  • Provide updates to Security Command about any security-related events or works being undertaken in the region.
Key Requirements:
  • Australian Citizenship;
  • Negative Vetting 2 (Top Secret) clearance; or ability to obtain and maintain this level of clearance;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain rapid response medical clearance;
  • Strong relationship building and engagement skills;
  • Effective communication skills, self-management, and motivation;
  • Bachelor degree or higher in a relevant field.
