Job Title: Operational Underwriting Leader

Job Summary:

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a team of underwriters and drive growth in the Queensland SME market.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a local underwriting team, contributing to the design of new systems, processes, and procedures for market-leading underwriting and customer service.
  • Build strong relationships with assigned broker groups and be a key point of contact with assigned panels of brokers, promoting Allianz's market-facing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other operational leaders to ensure achievement of key growth and profitability targets for the SME Underwriting Operations team.
  • Manage workflow processes across the Underwriting team to deliver market-leading customer service, improve positive net promoter score results, and foster a customer-centric culture.
  • Develop and implement inclusive and collaborative environments that leverage diverse thinking to achieve best outcomes.
  • Ensure fair and equitable distribution of work across the Underwriting team, focusing on development and growth needs for each member.
  • Monitor productivity and service standards reports across renewals, new business, endorsements, and loss control metrics, driving actions to achieve business objectives.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, with project management and/or continuous improvement certification.
  • Extensive experience in operational leadership roles in complex general insurance organizations.
  • Proven ability to empower teams to realize their highest potential by recognizing individual and team performance and building talent pipelines to safeguard current and future organizational needs.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret data, identify patterns, trends, and links that inform judgements and solutions.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage competing resources and demands effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with clarity, impact, and influence.
