This is a part-time temporary position commencing in January 2026. Our goal at Catholic Education, Diocese of Wollongong is to provide a continuum of support options for students with diverse learning needs within the least restrictive environment.

About this Role

The purpose of this role is to assist school communities to build their capacity, especially that of teachers and other staff, to cater for the diverse learning and wellbeing needs of students.

Key Responsibilities
  1. To cater for the inclusion of students with particular learning needs in the life of the school.
  2. To deliver quality differentiated teaching in the regular classroom.
  3. To adjust teaching methods to cater for particular needs in the regular classroom.
  4. To lead small group and targeted individual interventions within and outside regular class.
  5. To coordinate specialist setting classes for particular needs such as Autism, and Intellectual Disability where appropriate.
Requirements
  • A deep personal commitment to faith and spiritual formation.
  • Demonstrated experience as a successful classroom practitioner.
  • Qualifications or studies in Special Education, or the willingness to undertake relevant study.
  • An understanding of, and willingness to support, the Inclusion of students with particular learning needs in the life of the school.
  • A commitment to and capacity to work in a collaborative and collegial manner with staff, parents/carers, external professionals and the School Improvement Services Specialist Support Team.
