Job Summary:
The Scientific Support Specialist will be responsible for overseeing laboratory operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant teaching and research environments. This includes developing and implementing laboratory procedures and safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement laboratory procedures and safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Provide expert guidance and training to staff, students, and external partners on laboratory procedures and equipment use.
• Support technical staff and resource allocation within the School of Medicine to optimise workflow and lab efficiency.
• Advise on biosafety and biosecurity compliance, including import/export regulations and safe handling of biological materials.
• Lead Occupational Health and Safety initiatives, ensuring best practices for hazardous materials, dangerous goods, and overall lab safety.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications and experience in laboratory management, technical operations, or administration.
- Strong knowledge of OH&S regulations and compliance requirements for laboratory safety, biological samples, and hazardous materials.
