Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Geriatrician to join our team in delivering high-quality care to our patients and clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive specialist geriatric services at our primary facility and other facilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide contemporary comprehensive specialist geriatrician services to optimize patient outcomes and promote healthy communities through quality care.
  • Lead clinical teams, participate in quality improvement activities, and provide training and education to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Geriatrician, and/or specialist international medical graduate pathways.
  • Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Geriatric Medicine at the role delineation of the service.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  • Effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
  • Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.

Lismore Base Hospital is a regional referral, Level 5 base hospital providing a wide range of health services to residents in Northern NSW. These services include a state-of-the-art Operating Theatre Suite, Intensive Care/Cardiac Care Unit, General Medical and Surgical Wards, Womens Care Unit, Paediatric Unit, Renal Unit, Emergency Department, Medical Imaging department and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory. Mental Health Inpatient Units, the North Coast Cancer Institute, Pathology, Pain Management Clinic, and Specialist Outpatient Clinics are also located on the Lismore Base Hospital campus.
