Job Summary

A career opportunity has arisen for a Senior 3D Design and Exhibitions Specialist to lead the design and development of exhibitions and events.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for collaborating with Directors and Producers to deliver high-quality designs within timeframe and budget.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Developing cutting-edge conceptual solutions by challenging briefs.
  • Creating comprehensive technical packs with high-quality renders and visuals.
  • Managing material and cost engineering, sourcing finishes, preparing detailed drawings, and conducting site surveys.
  • Overseeing on-site execution, collaborating with contractors, mentoring junior designers, and building client relationships.

The successful candidate will have advanced skills in Vectorworks 3D modeling and visualization, as well as excellent drawing skills, including hand sketching to communicate ideas.

A strong understanding of the BCA and other relevant building and safety regulations is also required.

The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, as well as manage others, is essential.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work on a range of projects, from conceptual design to on-site execution, and to develop new design and construction techniques based on practice and research.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, resilient, flexible, and able to adapt to a dynamic and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

The following are some of the key responsibilities of this role:

  • Navigating cross-studio remote workflows, seeking feedback, approvals, and guidance from stakeholders while effectively reporting upwards.
  • Driving and delivering innovative creative responses for new business pitches by not over-capitalizing resource.
  • Receiving and interrogating briefs and developing design solutions to solve key business challenges/obstacles.
  • Deciding on detail of creative response ie. from conceptual sketches through to high-quality renders.
  • Preparing detailed working drawing packages including (but not limited to) plans, elevations, details, FF&E schedules, drawing schedules etc.
  • Receiving/developing site surveys and preparing site-specific documentation.
  • Overseeing projects on site and at prototype stages to ensure design intent is being met.
  • Developing high-end/cutting-edge conceptual ideas and solutions.
  • Cultivating 'sample' or 'mood' boards to communicate design intent. In-depth consideration of materials and costs according to set standards.
  • Overseeing and approving graphics, materials, fittings, furniture, lighting, finishes, decoration, and dressing including physical samples and prints from the wider team(s).
  • Providing consistent, enthusiastic, and motivational design leadership to the 3D team if required.
  • Working with more autonomy requiring less input from a Design Director.
  • To promote, support, and work with account management and production management, as well as other internal or external teams as appropriate.
  • Works when required with contractors such as Technical Directors, Structural Engineers, Lighting Designers, and other industry professionals to assist in the design delivery.
  • To contribute to and encourage the overall spirit of Imagination, entrepreneurial ideas, and creativity.
  • Staying current with new developments in the design industry.
  • Working to allocated project hours, meeting utilisation and billable targets, and completing timesheets accurately and on time.
  • Working with Resource Management to manage workload.
  • Solid understanding of financial scope and 3rd-party costs affected by 3D and 2D creative outputs.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The following skills and qualifications are required for this role:

  • Advanced skills in Vectorworks 3D modeling and visualization.
  • Excellent drawing skills, including hand sketching to communicate ideas.
  • A strong understanding of the BCA and other relevant building and safety regulations.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, as well as manage others.
