Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Johns Lyng Group. As a key member of our insurance building team, you will be responsible for taking ownership of large loss insurance building projects, monitoring estimator quotation lists, and developing relationships with key clients in the insurance and construction sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of large loss insurance building projects
  • Monitor estimator quotation lists
  • Develop relationships with key clients in the insurance and construction sectors
  • Discuss market trends and pricing schedules
  • Ensure any discrepancies with quotations of projects are identified
  • Identify any apparent trends regarding pricing
  • Develop and foster relationships with new and existing clients
  • Develop and continually critique/monitor estimating processes and strategies, ensuring our systems are of best practice in the industry
  • Explore potential non-conforming cost savings and alternatives
  • Conduct and manage detailed project take-offs and internal measures
  • Analysis of potential cost savings, gains, losses, and profitability
  • Develop preliminary costs in conjunction with nominated construction manager
  • Travel around metro Sydney

Requirements

  • Estimating experience in the construction sector
  • Insurance building or commercial background ideal, however not essential
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Excel, Project, and Word
  • Ability to be empathetic to the needs of the client
  • Knowledge of OHS practices, legislation, and regulations, advantageous however training provided
  • Knowledge of current market rates and trades advantageous however training provided
  • Good work ethic and highly motivated
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
  • Current and valid motor vehicle license
