Project Overview:

The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough, and Lane to design and construct Snowy 2.0, one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an Environmental Approvals Specialist to join our team in the Snowy Mountains, NSW. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and support to the construction management team to ensure compliance with statutory, FGJV, and client Environmental obligations.
  • Implement Environmental plans and subsidiary systems documentation.
  • Communicate Environmental issues, standards, and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Area Environmental Inspection and Audit Schedule.
  • Undertake and participate in Internal, SHL, and External Environmental Audits.
  • Provide support to the Area Site Environment team.
  • Ensure the Area Site Environment team are effectively resourced to meet the obligations of the HSE Activity Schedule.
  • Assist to identify environmental training requirements.
  • Collect and consolidate regulatory documentation provided by subcontractors as per project requirements.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge in environmental law and regulations.
  • Drivers' License.
  • White Card.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental roles, environmental permitting, or related fields.
  • Prove track record of successfully obtaining environmental approvals for construction and development projects.

Competencies:

  • Environmental Regulations: In-depth understanding of local and national environmental laws, regulations, and permitting processes.
  • Permitting Expertise: Proficiency in the environmental permitting process, including application preparation and compliance management.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to engage with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and project teams to facilitate approvals and compliance.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities to address environmental approval challenges effectively.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with environmental impact assessments, mitigation measures, and sustainability practices.

Working Conditions:

These positions are in remote challenging areas with extreme cold temperatures, which need to be considered before applying for these roles.
