About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our thriving Brisbane office at Stantec. As a key member of our Water Division, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and designing electrical equipment, systems, and networks for engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical engineering design, including modeling, engineering drawings, calculations, reports, and design criteria to support electrical engineering projects.
  • Conduct calculations to analyze and design electrical systems using company-standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of electrical systems and materials and the development of electrical specifications.
  • Contribute to the development of electrical systems through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, client presentations, client contact, and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
  • Prepare electrical engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules.
  • Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, respond to requests for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks.
  • Recognize when technical problems are developing and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Be available for on-site visits or project commissioning as required from time to time.
  • Be stationed in a client environment on small secondment when required.
  • Recognize and champion safe working practices in the electrical industry.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering with an emphasis on Electrical.
  • Between 6 to 10 years' experience in a similar position with well-rounded experience in on Water and Wastewater projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in LV and MV power systems in Australia.
  • Experience with CAD and power engineering software tools.
  • Highly developed consulting skills to liaise with clients and other stakeholders to achieve mutually successful project outcomes.
  • Be working towards or have achieved CPEng and RPEQ status.
  • Be willing to offer mentorship to junior engineers based on appropriate level of knowledge.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering – Electrical or equivalent.
