The Assistant Trainer position is a vital role that demands extensive expertise and experience in horse care, handling, and management. As an Assistant Trainer, you will be responsible for assisting the trainer with the daily operations of the stable, developing exercise routines and schedules, maintaining accurate horse records, and coordinating internal and external transport movements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the trainer with the daily running of the stable
- Develop and implement exercise routines and schedules for horses
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate horse records
- Coordinate internal and external transport movements efficiently
- Ensure all communication with owners is handled promptly and effectively
- Recognize and treat injuries or illnesses in horses
- Represent the stable at racing events
Requirements:
- Proven skills and knowledge in horse handling
- Experience in a similar role is highly desirable
- Valid driver's license
- Desirable but not essential: truck driving license
- Flexibility in work arrangements
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to manage and lead staff members effectively
- Sound knowledge of Australian Rules of Racing
- Experience with software applications, particularly Prism software
