Role Overview

The Finance and Business Services Centre at Edith Cowan University is seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to join their team. This is an ongoing, full-time position that requires strong financial expertise and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Financial Planning
    • Partner with the Executive Deans and Directors to achieve strategic objectives through financial insights, data-driven analysis, and consultation.
    • Provide financial leadership and direction in relation to budgeting, forecasting, student load planning, management reporting, performance monitoring, business development, and asset management.
  • Financial Governance
    • Manage financial aspects of project life cycles, from budgeting and financial management to reporting and acquittal, with a focus on robust financial governance and risk assessment practices applied.
    • Ensure consistent application of finance processes and procedures across the University to promote accuracy, accountability, and compliance with the University's policies and procedures.
  • Client-Focused Accounting Services
    • Deliver monthly management reports, budgeting, and forecasting services while ensuring compliance with the University's financial policies, procedures, and processes.
    • Work closely with university stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver valuable insights that enhance business decision-making and drive improvements in financial processes.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  1. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Commerce, or Management, majoring in Accounting, complemented by relevant work experience.
  2. Membership in a professional accounting body is preferred.
  3. Demonstrated experience in customer-focused financial support.
  4. Post-qualification experience in delivering accounting support services to a large business unit with working knowledge of accounting concepts, principles, practices, and procedures.
  5. Experience in a large ERP system such as Oracle financials or similar, along with high-level analytical and problem-solving skills and proficiency in using the Microsoft office suite.
Benefits

This ongoing, full-time position attracts a salary of $92,087 to $99,353 per annum, plus 17% University superannuation contribution. ECU supports a work-life balance for staff, and benefits such as flexible working arrangements may also be negotiated to meet your personal circumstances.
