About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Officer / Handy Man to join our team at Southern Cross Care NSW & ACT. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our facilities, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and building repairs
  • Conduct gardening maintenance tasks, including lawn mowing, hedging, and general garden upkeep
  • Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and families, demonstrating empathy and understanding of the needs of our aged residents

Requirements

  • Trade qualification (desirable)
  • Current clean driver's license
  • Previous experience in building, fitter and turner, welder, or plumber (desirable)
  • Experience as a Maintenance Person or Handy Man/Women in Aged Care or similar industry (desirable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with a wide range of people
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision
  • Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly in a residential care setting
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with residents and/or families
