Apprentice Electrician

We are seeking enthusiastic and proactive individuals to commence a career in Electrical trades with Port Macquarie Hastings Council.
As an Apprentice Electrician, you will work on various projects and tasks that contribute to the community's well-being, including electrical infrastructure construction, three-phase motors and control switchboard installations, and industrial wiring systems for water and sewer processing plants.
You will have the opportunity to work with diversely skilled Electrical Tradespeople and other trained professionals to install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment. Additionally, you will gain experience in telemetry services, including instrumentation, communication networks, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
The Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrician course will be delivered at Port Macquarie TAFE, providing you with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in your role.
What We're Looking For- A willingness to work and learn on the job
- A genuine interest in upkeeping grounds and plants
- Eagerness to learn and ask questions, with a self-motivated attitude
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- A focus on working safely, both for yourself and others
- Able to commit to study requirements and completion of all training in a timely and organized manner
- A current driver's license (Red P's or more)
- Able to comply with uniform and PPE requirements
- A 4-year apprenticeship and full-time work
- Paid study time - complete Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrician
- On-the-job technical training and development
- Genuine career opportunities within Council
Employment type: Full-time role (38 hours per week with 9-day fortnight)
Weekly starting salary $651 to $808 (depending on your highest year of schooling completed and number years since you finished school)
Allowances: Adverse working conditions 1 / Sewer Choke Allowance / Tool Allowance
You must be an Australian/NZ citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident; no visa or work permit support can be provided for this role.
