Strategic Commercial Consultant for Iron Ore Operations

As a Senior Commercial Analyst – Capital & Corporate Reporting with SIMEC Mining, a member of the GFG Alliance, you will play a crucial role in providing high-level commercial and financial support to our Iron Ore Operations team.

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team in Whyalla, South Australia, where we have operations in SA and NSW. Our Iron Ore business is on an exciting trajectory to expand our mining and processing operations with significant investment over the next three years.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and presenting regular capital budgeting and forecasting reports to operational teams
  • Analysing timelines to develop and achieve specific actions with timely outcomes
  • Participating in end-of-month preparation meetings and providing effective communication of key deliverables and dates to assigned teams
  • Consolidating and presenting data for financial reporting purposes to our corporate office
  • Contributing to the development of commercial capability within our Iron Ore Operational business unit
  • Providing timely support, recommendations, advice, and corporate governance to drive achievement of strategic goals
  • Identifying associated risks and developing appropriate risk mitigation strategies

You will be commercially-minded, proactive, and able to adapt to different strategies and situations. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in commercial, finance, or business management
  • CPA/CA accreditation preferred
  • Strong financial evaluation and report presentation skills
  • Ability to identify key drivers in complex commercial environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build working relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
  • SAP experience preferred but not essential
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

The estimated salary for this position is AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications. We offer a range of benefits, including career opportunities, continuous improvement, and professional development.
