About the Role

The Department of Defence is seeking a number of Policy Officers to contribute to its key policy and national security functions, protecting and furthering Australia's national interests.

As a Policy Officer, you will be part of a team strengthening Australia's national security and economic resilience by:

  • Developing long-term strategies and policies to guide and align Defence efforts.
  • Directing Defence's international engagement and building relationships with international counterparts.
  • Helping establish a sovereign industrial base and drive economic growth.

Your role will involve working on diverse national security objectives, including:

  • Preparing the Minister for high-level talks and briefings.
  • Providing policy guidance for operations and programs.
  • Scanning emerging strategic issues and guiding industry to meet Defence requirements.

No two days will be the same - you may conduct meetings, brief senior leaders, work with government agencies, industry stakeholders, or contribute to corporate transformational change initiatives.
