About the Role:

Thiess is seeking a seasoned Senior Mining Engineer to lead the medium and short-term mine planning systems and processes for the Mt Holland lithium project. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mine operations, drill and blast, planning, and scheduling. They will be responsible for providing accurate and timely project planning, enabling the business to meet contractual production targets in a cost-effective manner.

About You:

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical discipline at an open pit mining environment
  • Strong understanding of mine operation, drill and blast, planning, and scheduling
  • Thorough knowledge of open-cut mining methods
  • Strong understanding of the costs associated with mine planning and drill and blast activities
  • Prior experience in leading and mentoring engineers is beneficial
  • Ability to implement mining processes and systems in a brown or greenfield site
  • Strong mining software experience (Vulcan, Surpac, Datamine, Minesight, etc.) as well as the Microsoft Office suite
  • Able to demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed HSE goals in support of department, site, and company standards
  • Well-developed analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Good time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and shifting priorities
