Job Opportunity: Sydney News Reporter

We are seeking an experienced and skilled news journalist to join our dynamic team. As a key member, you will be responsible for producing high-quality news stories for broadcast, working under tight deadlines, and reporting live on breaking news events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pitch, research, and produce original, high-quality news stories for broadcast.
  • Work under pressure to deliver clear, accurate, and engaging TV news content.
  • Report live with confidence on breaking news events.
  • Take the lead on complex news stories, from concept to broadcast, with minimal supervision.
  • Proactively source and line up stories, ensuring comprehensive and dynamic coverage.
  • Cover other newsroom roles as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong news judgment and a deep understanding of the TV news landscape.
  • Exceptional communication skills—both on-air and behind the scenes.
  • Highly motivated to cultivate contacts, you're not afraid to pick up the phone.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick, accurate editorial decisions.
  • Proven track record in television news reporting.
  • In-depth knowledge of local, national, and international current affairs.
  • Proficiency in non-linear editing systems, with experience in TV news production.
  • Flexibility to work across different shifts, including weekends, to meet newsroom demands.
  • Strong grasp of media law and its application in news reporting.
