Geo Mapping Expert Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Geo Mapping Expert to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of Google Maps App and AI innovations, guiding key features within mapping and navigation products that impact billions worldwide.

The successful candidate will have expertise in software design and architecture, data structures, and algorithms, as well as experience with tech leadership roles, mentoring, and managing communications with leaders. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including AI/ML research and core search engineering, to shape the future of mobility.

The Geo team aims to build the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for users through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, and Google Maps Platform. Over a billion people rely on Maps services monthly for exploration and navigation. The team also enables developers to leverage Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites.

Responsibilities:

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Lead Google Maps App client development for high-impact projects at the intersection of mapping services and AI.
  • Refine the core Directions platform, improving system health and building new capabilities for a global user base.
  • Collaborate across Android and iOS to deliver impactful cross-platform features.
  • Co-own the technical roadmap for the Directions platform, guiding future challenges.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in Android or iOS development, testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
  • 2 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Preferred qualifications: PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields; 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms; experience in a tech leadership role, including mentoring, guiding team members, and managing communications with leaders.
