About the Role

The successful candidate will provide academic leadership in the Social Work Unit at Victoria University, innovating and promoting the scholarship of teaching, learning, and research in Social Work. They will be responsible for taking on the role of Head of Social Work, participating in decisions related to resource development and budgetary allocations for courses offered within the Social Work discipline.

The Associate Professor/Professor of Social Work will oversee and coordinate all activities to ensure the development of the Social Work discipline and ongoing accreditation of all Social Work programs offered at Victoria University. This includes liaising with the accrediting association, the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Social Work curriculum and related postgraduate courses.
  • Assure that the delivery of the Social Work programs is conducted in accordance with accreditation requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a strong collaborative network of industry contacts.
  • Work with other staff in the College to ensure that University policies are reflected in all relevant Social Work activities.
  • Prepare and deliver workshops, practical classes, demonstrations, and clinical sessions.
  • Initiate, develop, and conduct high-quality research projects in collaboration with research leaders in the University, university key industry partners, and other external organizations.
  • Develop, write, and conduct research grants that attract external funding.

The successful incumbent will have obtained recognition as an eminent authority in the discipline, achieved distinction at the national level, and international level in a field relevant to Social Work. They will provide leadership in developing the research and teaching profile of Social Work at Victoria University both internally and externally with the Social Work community.

We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary range of $155,850 - $171,696 per annum, plus superannuation benefits. The position is a full-time continuing appointment, working 36.75 hours per week. We also offer a range of professional development opportunities and a supportive work environment.
