About the Role

The Australian Defence Force is seeking highly skilled and physically fit individuals to join our team as Navy Divers, also known as Clearance Divers. As a Navy Diver, you will be part of an elite team responsible for conducting diving operations in support of the Australian Defence Force's maritime operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct diving operations to depths of up to 80 metres, including neutralising and disposing underwater explosives, search missions, underwater engineering and maintenance, tactical operations, underwater demolitions, and more.
  • Work with a team to complete diving missions and operations, including mine hunting, underwater scouting, inspections and surveying, maritime counter terrorism, and underwater maintenance and repair.
  • Operate specialist diving equipment, including circuit re-breathers, handheld sonars, remote positioning vehicles, portable x-ray devices, and disruptors.
  • Participate in expeditionary reconnaissance and clearance missions, amphibious operations, and instructional and training duties.
  • Provide specialist support for boarding parties and maritime tactical operations.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require an ongoing high degree of stamina and physical fitness. You will also need to be able to learn additional skills and duties to become highly trained and efficient in supporting the whole ship.
