About the Roles

We are seeking experienced professionals with demonstrated expertise in Public Law and Corporate Commercial Law to join our network of skilled professionals.

As a contract lawyer with our company, you will have the opportunity to work with Commonwealth Government clients based in Canberra, ACT and nationwide.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of specific legislation, case law, and principles relevant to the agency, as well as the ability to exercise high-level judgment and critical thinking to develop legal advice and solutions.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and case law
  • Developing legal advice and solutions for the agency
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing leadership and supervision to junior staff members

Australian citizenship is required for all roles, and an existing security clearance is highly desirable.

We are looking for professionals with experience in areas such as:

  • Workplace, industrial relations, and compensation matters
  • Legislation development and process
  • Human rights and discrimination
  • Property and leasing matters
  • Debt recovery
  • Freedom of information, privacy, and data access and protection
  • Commercial law matters such as general contract law, procurement, tendering, and probity, grants, intellectual property, media, corporate structures, and governance, and insurance
  • Disputes and litigation

Essential qualifications include:

  • A degree in law from an Australian university or a comparable overseas degree recognised in Australia for admission to practice
  • A Practising Certificate or eligibility to attain one
