Job Overview

Tasmania Legal Aid is seeking a highly motivated and experienced lawyer to join our Criminal Law Practice. As a Senior Counselor, you will provide high-quality representation for clients involved with the criminal justice system in Tasmania.

Key Responsibilities

This role involves providing routine legal advice, information, and guidance to clients or their support person regarding the law, their rights, and legal processes. You will also obtain expert reports and make detailed referrals to appropriate internal and external services, including obtaining expert reports as required. Additionally, you will assist senior practitioners by undertaking administrative investigations and straightforward legal proceedings.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must be admitted or eligible for admission as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Tasmania. You should also have current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status-Employment). A current Motor Vehicle Driver's Licence is desirable but not essential.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is around $85,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience. The role offers flexible working hours, paid leave, and opportunities for professional development.
