Job Opportunity

We are seeking a strong General Commercial lawyer with 5+ years of experience to join our team in Brisbane. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in general commercial contracting, with exposure to a wide range of industries, including financial services, consumer, food, and retail, energy, and resources, government, and public sector, construction, and infrastructure, education, hotels, leisure, and gaming, mining, TMT, and transport.

The successful candidate will have relevant experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including property, technology, privacy, and data, intellectual property, credit, and financing. M&A experience, particularly involvement in the integration of new companies/businesses into existing corporate structures, as well as joint venture experience, is highly sought after. Procurement experience is also highly valued.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable providing legal advice relating to competition and consumer law, privacy, product safety, quality, and labelling. Experience in disputes and investigations, including litigation, disputes, insolvency/debt recovery, and regulatory investigations, is also an advantage. The candidate must have the ability to hit the ground running, work autonomously, and prioritize tasks effectively.

We are looking for a lawyer who is happy to be a doer, confident in being on the tools, and able to understand and adapt to the needs of a business. The successful candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships externally and internally. Strong commercial and business acumen, an excellent client service focus, ethic, and commitment are essential.

The right to live and work in Australia and hold or be able to obtain a current practicing certificate is required. The candidate must be willing to engage with Ashurst via an Independent Incorporated Legal Practice or casual employment.
