Job Description

Viva Energy is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager Logistics to join our Supply Chain team for a 15-month Fixed Term contract. This role is a significant contributor to the success of the Viva Energy supply chain, with responsibility for several hundred million dollars of annual spend across multiple significant road transport contracts.

The Commercial Manager Logistics will lead a team of 7, negotiating and achieving commercial outcomes, while also setting and delivering the longer-term road transport strategy for Viva Energy. This role requires strong financial management skills, negotiation, and leadership abilities.

The ideal candidate will have a commercial background or experience in managing counterparty relationships and contracts. They will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to manage and influence people, as well as the ability to work as part of a virtual team and autonomously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage key carrier relationships, ensuring all commercial strategies and targets are achieved through effective contract management and negotiation.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Assess tender submissions, negotiate contracts, and award tenders.
  • Deliver financial activity including annual budgeting, monthly financial processes, and reporting.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach your team.
  • Play a key role on Viva Energy's Logistics Leadership Team to further build and develop the team culture.
  • Manage a significant number of different stakeholders effectively to ensure that commercial outcomes are achieved, through effective and influential working relationships – both internally and externally.

Requirements

  • Commercial background or experience in managing counterparty relationships and contracts.
  • Experience with contract management principles.
  • Ability to consider business strategy and objectives when analysing problems and offer creative solutions/options.
  • Effective negotiator with a sharp commercial mindset.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to manage and influence people.
  • Skilled in developing and leading high performing teams.
  • Ability to work as part of a virtual team as well as autonomously.
  • Possess clear verbal and written communication.
  • Attention to detail, well organised and comfortable with managing data.
  • Experience in Bulk Fuel Logistics (transport) or similar is desirable.
