**Job Summary:**
The Saw Helper position is a vital role at Pennex, where we are dedicated to impacting our world in a positive way. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the quality of our aluminum extrusions meets or exceeds customer specifications.
This position could be first, second, or third shift, offering flexibility to suit your needs.
**Responsibilities:**- We are looking for someone who can repetitively lift aluminum extrusions of lengths up to forty feet and weighing up to seventy-five pounds from saw tables to metal baskets.
- As a Saw Helper, you will visually inspect metal while placing it in baskets, looking for burrs, scratches, chips, gouges, dents, bubbles, die lines, etc.
- You will also be responsible for keeping spacers level and even during stacking operations, blowing off saw chips between each row or once the basket is full, depending on need and specifications.
- Assisting the Saw Operator with cutting up scrap and placing it in the scrap hopper is another important task.
- You will push baskets on wheels into or out of the workstation, ensuring they do not block aisleways or walkways.
- Additionally, you will assist the Saw Operator with weighing and recording empty and full baskets/racks before they leave the work area.
- Changing saw blades and adding oil to the saw as needed is also an essential part of the job.
- You will regularly check all equipment to ensure it is in safe working order and report potential problems or defects to the foreman or lead person.
- Maintaining a neat and orderly work area, including general housekeeping of the work area upon completion of a repair, is also expected.
- Lastly, you will perform other duties as assigned.
We are looking for an ideal candidate with:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
We require someone with:
- The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
- The ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures or rulers.
- The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- The ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
The employee is required to work a scheduled 8-hour shift.
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.
The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
**Work Environment:**The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock.
The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
